The desire of humans to be as free as birds has allowed them to pass some technology and discoveries to fly in the sky. In this sense, thousands of vehicles have been produced and used. But the most colorful and beautiful of them is undoubtedly hot air balloons.

The origins of hot air balloons in the world and in Turkey are very old. According to known, Leonardo Da Vinci is an important figure in this scene. Da Vinci is regarded as an important personality in discovering the gliding in the air with superb instruments, which he painted in his own world. These developments, which began with the dream of Da Vinci in the 1500's years, have led to dozens of evolutionary episodes.

Today, the most colorful of air vehicles are hot air balloons. This adventure, which started with the Montgolfier brothers, continues today at full speed.

Cappadocia is considered the center of hot air balloon in Turkey. Having made great investments in this area, Cappadocia hosts thousands of local and foreign tourists.

Cappadocia is the number one in the world with 450 thousand tourists in the field of hot air ballooning. And every day it increases this amount.

If we take a closer look at the history of hot air ballooning, Ahmet Çelebi is shown as the best performer in this area in our country. Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi started flying to Üsküdar through Galata tower with wings he built in 1630. Lagari Hasan Çelebi, after only 3 years, has been able to produce energy by blowing up the guns for miles, and with a primitive parachute, he has started to fly to the desired spot.

All these successful and unsuccessful attempts have brought the aviation industry to different dimensions nowadays. The most spectacular multiplier here was the hot air ballooning sector. In Cappadocia, especially in the 1800's, first signs emerged in this area. Cappadocia's presence in this sector came after 1997 and proved to be an important actor in the field.

Many investments were made to develop Cappadocia hot air ballooning. Cappadocia Vocational School Flight Training Organization and Kaya Balloon Flight Training Organizations were established. Thus, more active and more qualified personnel were trained. Cappadocia Vocational School opened the Balloon Pilot Associate Degree Program in 2011-2012 and dozens of students entered this division.

The Cappadocia Balloon Commission was established on 15 September 2011 to examine and analyze all aspects of hot air ballooning in Cappadocia and all over Turkey. Thus, more professional approaches would emerge.

Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Business Agency was established in 2013 and today there are 190 companies that are members of this agency. Business owners are carrying out projects and presentations every year to develop the sector in different regions. Cappadocia made the biggest breakthrough after 2015. From this year on, she has signed partnership projects to develop more professional staff and to launch new hot air balloons into the market.

Today, Cappadocia is the base of a shining hot air balloon.
