The small town of Uçhisar between Nevşehir and Ürgüp, is 8 km from Nevşehir. It has gained fame
with its castle and Güvercinlik Valley.

The Uçhisar castle rising up in the centre of the town, was
made by cutting into the soft tufa rocks, and was used in later periods as well. Grave-rooms were
found in the three sections of this may-roomed castle, which is shaped like a small hill. The Göreme
valley can best be viewed from the top of the castle. The Akvadi valley in the environs of Uçhisar is an
interesting naural formation resulting from corrosion. This small canyon is a magical world to those
who visit it.
